Using Parent/Guardian’s email

  • You don’t have or you have not provided your own personal email so your counsellor will use your parent/guardian’s email address to send information about your sessions.

  • This means your parent/guardian may see the emails your counsellor may send.

  • Emails are not 100% private, but your counsellor will only send what’s needed (like session times or resources).

Privacy in Sessions

  • Your sessions are private, just between you and your counsellor.

  • For this to work, you need to be in a private space where no one else can hear (not your parents, family, or friends).

  • This can help you feel safe to talk and makes the sessions most helpful.

Confidentiality

  • What you say in sessions stays private.

  • The only times your counsellor may need to share information is if they’re worried about your safety, someone else’s safety, or if the law requires it.
